Research In Motion, makers of BlackBerry smartphones, reduced prices of its PlayBook tablet by half for the festival season
The 16GB version of the PlayBook is being sold at Rs.13,490 till December 31st 2011 down from of Rs.27,490, a spokesperson said. Price of 32GB version has been reduced to Rs.15,990 from Rs.32,990 and 64GB version will cost only Rs.24,490, down from Rs.37,990 says EconomicTimes.
Sales in the tablet segment in India are expected to touch 1 million units over the next 12 months, says Economic Times, which is many times lower than cell phones sales in the country.
